Christian Counseling Online is your Christian Counselor and Christian Counseling resource for help, hope and encouragement. We have tools that will help you find the Counselor that's right for you. One of those tools is our Christian Counseling Sevices Directory.
Now that you have made a decision that you want to find a Counselor who is Christian, let me give you some practical advice...a rose by any other name is still a rose...but you still need to make sure it's a ROSE!
What do I mean by that?
All Counselors who call themselves Christian are not necessarily Christian Counselors. Chances are if you are on this site it is because you are looking for a counselor who is Christ centered.
What does a Christ Centered Christian Counselor look like, practically speaking...
The Christian Counselor you are looking for should incorporate the principles of the Christian Faith into the counseling experience. It means your counselor will likely use prayer, the scriptures, and other useful tools and resources that are based on God's word to help you...the client...accomplish your goals.
But being a Christian Counselor means much more than that...it means that your counselor will see the solution to your problems as always being consistent with God's word and in the context of a relationship with Him. A Christian Counselor acknowledges that God is the Wonderful Counselor who heals us from the inside out.
Your counselor understands that emotional health and healing for you will come generally as a process of you submitting yourself to God and His word and choosing to act in obedience rather than in rebellion. She is there to support and encourage you as you learn to walk through that process.
Your counselor also understands that your healing and growth will be the result of you experiencing and understanding more and more of God's love, forgiveness and grace through a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight. Philippians 1:9

Christian Counselors often use other effective therapy tools that are not uniquely Christian but are also not in conflict with God's word.
