(Jean is not able to take any phone clients at this time)

Phone Counseling With Jean LeStourgeon
Thank you for visiting my phone counseling information page.

Counseling by phone is an attractive alternative for many because...

People are busier than ever. Many people now work from their own home. We are all enjoying the convenience of purchasing goods and services through the internet.

Some professionals are offering counseling by phone because it is more convenient and accessible for many people. But, you might ask...

How do I know if Christian Counseling by phone is right for me?

That's a good question. Phone counseling may be appropriate for people who are looking for a counselor with specific expertise that they cannot find in their area.

Phone counseling brings the service to the individual. If phone counseling is something you are considering you need to know the advantages and the limitations...

Some of the advantages of phone counseling are...

  • Safer -- entering into a counseling relationship is often a very courageous step for people...counseling by phone can make that step easier to take.

  • Savings -- you may save money because the fees are often less than a traditional office visit.

  • Convenient -- you won't be spending additional time and money traveling back and forth to your counselor's office.

  • Comfortable -- because you are in the privacy of your home, office or car.

  • Anonymity -- it may be easier for you to open up and trust which may help you to accomplish more in a shorter period of time.

Some of the limitations of phone counseling are...

  • You may be more comfortable with and trusting of a counselor who is physically present.

  • Communication may be more difficult (especially if there is a strong accent or speech articulation problem). Since your counselor cannot see your facial expressions and body language it may be more difficult for her to understand what you are feeling.

  • Counseling by phone is not appropriate for people who are suicidal or homicidal, in crisis or struggling with serious emotional problems.

If you or someone you love is in a crisis situation that involves harm to you or another person, phone 911 immediately for assistance.

  • It is not reimbursable by your insurance.

  • It is not appropriate for those who have difficulty expressing themselves.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8

How Confidential is phone and internet counseling?

Your counselors will do everything they can do to provide you with 100% confidentiality. However, if cordless phones, cell phones and internet transmissions are used, though the risk is small, it is not possible to guarantee 100% confidentiality.
