Are you in recovery? December 29, 2011 |
Hi, Are you in recovery? I believe that each and everyone of us is in a process of recovery. The word of God calls it sanctification and Paul wrote, "It is God's will that you should be sanctified" (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Recovery, aka sanctification, begins when we first recognize that we have something to recover from: Recovery from the effects of sin, the fall and human commands and teachings (Colossians 2:20-22). Recovery requires us to remove the mask and stop trying to hide our imperfections, struggles and sin. Only then can we enjoy the freeing truth that in Christ a lone are we completely righteous. In Christ we are free to fail, because Christ imputed His righteousness to us. We can't become any more perfect or righteous. God Himself has said it is so (2 Corinthians 5:21). My friend, James Dinsmore, knows all about the mask and the freedom that comes when one courageously begins to remove his/her masks. A very articulate and creative writer, James has chronicled much of his own personal recovery in a 365 day daily devotional. Read more about Jame's personal testimony of recovery. Until Next Time...
