Start a New Years Revolution

January marks the beginning of a new year. What a great time to start a new years revolution. Yes, you read that right...not a resolution, but a revolution. A radical personal transformation (Romans 12:2). You can begin your revolution by taking a few minutes to ask yourself the following questions...
  • Am I truly walking in freedom?
  • Am I living in truth - or am I still wearing masks?
  • Are there strongholds in my life that need to be broken once and for all?
  • Is the joy of the Lord my strength?
  • Have I discovered my purpose and am I living it?
  • Does my life in every way reflect the truth I profess to believe?
  • Do I live as a person under authority (the authority of Christ)?

I hope and pray all these things for you...for the truth is they are all the fruit of the blessed cross of Christ. Freedom is a promise for those who trust in Christ for it is for freedom that he has set us free (Galatians 5:1). Living in freedom from fear, from depression, from anxiety, from failure, from addictions and more is all possible because of Christ.

The apostle Peter wrote "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness" (2 Peter 1:3).

Through Peter's letter we discover that in order to experience what Christ has for us, we must grow in our personal knowledge of Him. The Holy Bible is the only cistern from which we can drink in the knowledge of the Son of God for it is the very revelation of Jesus Christ and His Father to the world.

May I encourage you to make your Bible your primary reading and studying material for 2011. When ever you pick it up, pick it up with the attitude and prayer that you want to know Christ....to really know Him. A daily bible reading plan like those found at BibleGateway can help you get started. These online bible sites also offer free online concordances and other bible study helps.

If you are an auditory learner, listening to the Bible is exceptionally easy now a days...iTunes University has a number of Bible podcasts where the pure word of God goes forth. My favorite one is JCSM. Through JCSM you can listen to the Bible on your iPod or your MP3 player. You can also find JCSM at iTunes University. Another bible podcast that I've enjoyed is the Daily Audio Bible .

Start a new years revolution today by standing on the promise that freedom is yours through Christ...but remember it's not only through Christ, but your freedom is for Christ, for whom and through whom everything exists (Hebrews 2:10). To Him be all glory for ever and ever.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)
