Christian Counselor Ann ArborLife happens. Sometimes we have difficulty responding to ‘what happened’. It is not what happened but how we respond to what happened that makes all of the difference. My practice will teach individuals to be their own therapists in how they process life events and world view.

Depression, anxiety, broken relationships and confusion can all be signs that clients need someone to walk them through difficult parts of their life’s journey utilizing clinical means. Christian Counseling is my specialty.

Through a combination of cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented therapies we will search beyond the surface level for causative themes and factors that can be changed through changes in behavior.

For those clients who desire to address issues of faith, I am equipped to be of assistance by applying a spiritual orientation in addition to traditional cognitive and rational emotive therapy. I will utilize some of the latest assessment tools to enhance the treatment process.

My area of special interest and experience is working with individuals experiencing depression, victims of violence and trauma and broken relationships. I perform family therapy and premarital counseling as well as conflict reconciliation for couples in conflict.

I have been actively involved in counseling individuals and families for 23 years.

Rev. Susan A. Haberkorn, NCCA Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor provides private counseling to individuals suffering emotional challenges such as depression, anxiety, anger, marital discord, parent-child problems, and other inter- and intrapersonal difficulties. Counseling begins with determining the client’s inborn, God-given temperament using the Arno Profile System of Temperament Analysis.

This analysis helps the client understand why they view themselves, other people, situations, and the world around them the way they do. Using the APS, prayer, biblical truth, and cognitive therapy, clients are helped to understand and engage the truth of their situation and find godly ways to resolve their problems.

Rev. Susan provides this counseling in a confidential and nonjudgmental environment that encourages her clients to accept responsibility for their own thoughts and behaviors; to find healing for past hurts; and to “be transformed by the renewing of their minds.”

Rev. Susan is available for evening and Saturday appointments. Please call (301) 797-6645 to make an appointment.
